Adding a personal touch to a wedding gift

Weddings involve lots of gift giving. The bride and groom each pick out mementos for those in the wedding party; the wedding planner may see to it that guests at the reception each receive a token gift; and everyone who attends the wedding has at least a little something to pass along to the bride and groom. Some of these gifts can be expensive or especially sentimental, but many of the gifts that change hands around a wedding are more about the gesture of gift giving than the gift itself. Gag gifts usually work their way into the process, too.

For example, the best man is likely to play a joke on the groom at some point, maybe passing him a pack of Mates Condoms at an inopportune moment or pretending like he has misplaced the ring right before the ceremony. Even when the gift is a joke, it still helps to make the ceremony that much more memorable. For couples and wedding planners who are having trouble picking out gifts for the guests in attendance, one excellent idea is leaving personalised miniature bottles of alcohol to mark the place where they're to sit during the reception. These bottles are comparable to those found on airplanes, filled with spirits or liqueur. A personalised label with the recipient's name or a special picture is affixed to each bottle. It may not be as pithy or comic as distributing Mates Condoms to the dinner guests, but it is at least a tasteful way to let friends and family know that their presence is appreciated.
