How to Make Your Own Poker Chips

Some of the most common things you see in casinos are the poker chips used in lieu of currency. Whether you purchase them in stores or acquire them from casinos, poker chip sets are expensive. Thus, you might want to make your own set to be used during your regular poker night.

First, you can utilise anything that you have a large quantity of. Choose round objects such as coloured glass beads, bottle crowns, miniature coasters, or coins. For bigger denominations, try using coloured miniature wine bottles. These will definitely add colour to your poker table. As an added bonus, you can drink the liquid inside while you concentrate on your card game!

If you have a hand in crafts, you can fashion your own chips. Indeed, this can even be an offshoot hobby. Purchase baking clay from a local crafts store. Place it flat on a piece of wax paper and knead to soften it. Get a rolling pin and roll the clay out until it is 1 inch thick. Get a shot gloss and turn it upside down so that the mouth is facing the substance. You can also use the bottom of a miniature wine bottle in lieu of a shot glass. Press the glass or bottle firmly on the clay. This will create the basic shape of the chip. Continue stamping out round forms until they fill out the clay then take the chips out. Cover a cookie sheet with aluminium foil and place the chips on it. Place the tray in the oven and bake the clay for about 20 minutes. Once the chips are hardened, take them out and allow them to cool. Finally, you can paint the chips with poster colours, following any design you want.
